The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV continues the first generation of the GLA nameplate, and there are some big changes for this model year, including the discontinuation of the AMG® GLA 45. This vehicle is the smallest and most affordable of the Mercedes-Benz SUVs. It provides nimbleness, utility and luxury. It is loaded with technologies, and you can add even more through options. All of the GLA model trim levels are now available at Mercedes-Benz at Long of Chattanooga. With the GLA - and many of its other vehicles - Mercedes-Benz takes an approach to its trims that differs from other automakers. It does not, for instance, offer a base model and upper trims. It offers a singular package that is robust and through which you can customize with various optional packages. The trim names, such as GLA 250 and GLA 250 4MATIC®, refer to the drivetrain options, which are front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, respectively.
Base Trim - 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV
The Mercedes-Benz GLA is a small crossover SUV or, as Mercedes-Benz likes to frame it, the modern evolution of a small station wagon. The crossover is available as either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, which is discussed further in the subsequent trim sections. The powertrain features a turbocharged I-4 engine mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with a manual shifting option and overdrive. The engine makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The GLA has two rows and can seat up to five passengers. The cargo area measures more than 17 cubic feet. If you fold the second row down, you have access to more than 43 cubic feet. Access to the cargo area is made more convenient thanks to a power liftgate and cargo bed height of around 28 inches.
GLA 250 Trim - Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV in Chattanooga
The GLA 250 is the front-wheel drive version of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV. You have your choice of eight body colors, including options like Night Black, Denim Blue Metallic and Jupiter Red. The base wheels are 18-inch five-spoke wheels, but you have five unique designs to pick from, and most of those are available at no additional charge. The AMG® Line Exterior option upgrades the wheels to 19-inch silver multi-spoke wheels. It also adds a stylish appearance package and painted brake calipers, and you can get it with the Night Package, which adds gloss black exterior accents. When it comes to the interior, you have six distinct upholstery options and four distinct trim options. An infotainment system with an 8-inch color display, dual-zone automatic climate control and keyless start are all standard equipment.
GLA 250 4MATIC® Trim - Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV in Chattanooga
The GLA 250 4MATIC® is the all-wheel drive version of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV, and while both versions share the same powertrain, the 4MATIC® accelerates a tad faster: zero to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds as opposed to 7.2. The standard and optional equipment is similar across both model trim levels, so the earlier discussion about body colors, wheels and the AMG® Line Exterior group apply here as well. Likewise, both the 250 and 250 4MATIC® give you the option a panorama roof, LED headlamps and taillamps and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz star on the grille. A Driver Assistance Package adds radar-based adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. You can opt for blind spot assist individually, and a Parking Assistance Package adds active parking assist with a surround-view camera system.
